Ulva Mill

Ulva is a village in the southern most portion of Bälinge Parish about 4 miles north of Uppsala. There have been some kind of mill works on the site as early as the 1300’s.

The current mill house was built in the 1700’s and was under operation as a mill until 1963 when it was sold to the municipality by the last miller David Karlsson. The waterfall that powered the mill is a 4 meter drop, making it the highest waterfall on the Fyris River.

The mill and surrounding environs now houses workshops and stores for the handicrafts of artisians as well as restaurant. There is also a working hydro-power turbine with an annual output of 800 MWh.
