Solna Church – Side View

The oldest portion of Solna Church is the central roundhouse built during the latter half of the 1100’s. It was built for defense as much as for worship. The porch was added on the south with a rectangular choir to the east and a nave to the west. On the north side of the choir is the sacristy and to the east a octagonal grave choir.

The roundhouse is dominated by a tall cupola which dominates the church’s appearance.

The first choir was added in the 1200’s. The oldest part of the nave is from the 1300’s and was extended in the 1400’s when the weaponhouse (porch) and sacristy were added.
