The Ruin of Jarmer’s Tower

This tower was built at the beginning of the 1500’s. It is all that remains of the eleven towers once joined together as part of Copenhagen’s medieval fortifications.

The tower was named for Jaromar II of Rügen (1218-1260), Fürst of the Wends, who in 1259, attacked and penetrated the wooden palisades which were the fortifications around Copenhagen at the time.
