Toresunds Church

The beginnings of this church date back to the 1100’s. During the first half of the 1400’s, a tower was added on the west side. At the end of the same century the church was extended east. In 1502 lightning sparked a fire which destroyed the spire and roof. Reconstruction followed, but the fire apparently weakened the tower. In 1806-1808 the tower’s upper part was demolished and roofed with the nave. 1908 rough restoration destroyed much of the church’s medieval character though later alterations have sought to recreate the original appearance.
