Österunda Church

The church consists of a rectangular nave with a straight end choir. A vestry has been built on the north and a porch to the south. This whitewashed church is built mainly of stone.

It was probably built in the late 1200’s or early 1300’s. The nave and chancel originally had a high barrel vault of wood which was replaced by the final three stellar brick vaults. The porch was probably added after that. The biggest changes to the exterior since the late middle ages took place in the 1700’s when the windows were enlarged in the 1750’s. The current ceiling is derived from repair work in 1781.
