Nysätra Church
The church has a frame of brick resting on a pedestal of granite. It consists of a nave with straight choir in the east.
The previous church on this site is of unknown design, possibly wooden. The oldest parts of the current church are of the nave and sacristy probably built in the early 1400’s. In the late 1400’s, the church was equipped with a new ceiling with brick arches and most likely the current porch.
In the early 1800’s a number of alterations were made including additions on the southern wall as the church had begun to lean in that direction. To get the bricks for the modifications, the sacristy’s ribbed vaults were sacrificed. Remains of the vaults can be seen in sacristy’s four corners.
