Lovö Kyrka

Origins of this church likely date to 1100’s though a wooden church may have stood on the spot. Restoration in the 1930’s discovered runestones from the early half of the 1100’s. The church was extended at the end of the 1200’s and again in the 1600’s. The tower was built in the late Medieval period. The gravestones of some 30 people are within the church, most of whom were employed at Drottningholm Castle

Five runestones can be found in the churchyard which were found in the church’s foundation walls or served as corner stones in the tower.
