Parstuga (Pair Cottage) at Koversta
This type of building derives its name from the construction of single rooms to the left and right of the central entry vestibule occasionally with a smaller room across from the door in the small hall.
Buildings such as this have their roots in the 1400’s but became more common in the 1500’s. It became the standard farmhouse in the late 1600’s and 1700’s. In some instances two families would occupy such a house. Cottages such as these were used right up until the 1950’s.
This particular parstuga dates from the 1700’s.
