Över Ulleruds Kyrka

A church has stood on this site since the 13th or 14th century, the oldest only a few meters south of the present. A pilgrimage route to the Norwegian town of Trondheim followed the Klarälven from the south, passing by here.

The original church was extended in the 1600’s, but later demolished when the current one was constructed in 1727. A renovation in 1867 resulted in its current appearance.

Housed in side is a Gothic medieval triumphal crucifix. There’s also a sandstone baptismal font from the 1200’s which stands on a rune-carved stone slab.
