Upplands Runestone # 357 – Skepptuna

Translation: “Vargas and Arnkel and Anduätt and Rodälv, their mother, the three brothers allowed to be raised this stone after Holme, their father.”

The stone was found in the 1800’s in the churchyard wall. It’s original standing place is unknown. The inscription dates from the middle of the 1000’s and is the work of the known rune master, Åsmun Kåreson. The cross is evidence of the Christian influence.
