Upplands Runestone #847

Rune translation, “Åsger and Gislög allowed to raise this stone after their two sons, Ådjärv and Slode. Åsmund cut the right runes for the meaning. Åsmund (missing) carved.

There’s Åsmund again. He’s the same runemaster who carved my favourite runestone.

Like most runestones, this one dates from around 1000 AD. Like its sister stone on the other side of Västeråker’s churchyard gate, it’s original place is not known, but in the 1600’s it served as a threshold between the vapenhuset and the church door.
